Many alumni are now advancing their careers far away from Berlin. In August, the MDC visited some of them abroad. This premiere, titled “25 years of the MDC: Research highlights and career pathways,” took place in San Francisco.

After the summer break, the MDC welcomes new scientists in leading positions: Darío Lupíañez is a junior group leader at the Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB) and Philipp Mertins is the new head of the Proteomics Platform of MDC and BIH.
The MDC immunologist Professor Klaus Rajewsky has been awarded honorary membership in the German Society for Immunology (DGfI) in recognition of his outstanding achievements in immune system research. The honor was bestowed on him in Erlangen during the DGfI’s 47th annual meeting.
It was a special birthday celebration for a special birthday: 111 years ago, on September 4, Max Delbrück was born in Berlin. The MDC celebrated the birthday at the MDC congress center.
In recognition of his outstanding scientific achievements in kidney research, MDC researcher Prof. Kai Schmidt-Ott has been chosen by the German Society of Nephrology (DGFN) to receive the Dr. Werner Jackstädt Research Award.
The theater production “EinzigArtig” deals with synthetic biology and the creation of new forms of life. It is was produced in cooperation with the MDC, which will be hosting the play on September 26 and October 6.
Experiments increasingly rely on high-performance computing software that plays a crucial role in producing and interpreting data. Differences in software environments can cause problems when those experiments need to be reproduced – so scientists at the MDC in Berlin are helping find a solution.
16 Helmholtz Association Centers have terminated their license agreements with scientific publisher Elsevier effective by the end of 2017. One of these Centers is the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC).
To celebrate the birthday of our namesake, the MDC and the Friends of the MDC invite everyone who is interested to a charity concert and commemorative speech on Monday, September 4th. Prof. Nikolaus Rajewsky will speak about the collaboration between Max Delbrück and Nikolai Timoféeff-Ressovsky in Berlin-Buch.
MDC and BIH erect a new research facility for physicians, researchers and patients. The Käthe Beutler building will be completed in 2020.
